NSA Watch launched

EFF reports, that the ACLU relaunched its informational surveillance network mini-site formerly known as EchelonWatch. NSA Watch contains a wide variety of materials and links documenting the NSA’s extraordinary communication interception capabilities, which are part of an international arrangement sometimes referred to as “Echelon“. The NSA, acting at the orders of President Bush, has recently been uncovered engaging in the warrantless eavesdropping of American citizens and legal residents, an activity that is clearly illegal, according to ACLU.

Never try to catch a falling knife

The Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch has published the winners of the annual Wacky Warning Labels. A heat gun’s warning saying ‘Do not use this tool as a hair dryer‘ has been awarded as the nation’s wackiest warning label. 2nd price goes to the ‘Never try to catch a falling knife‘ label on a kitchen knife. A cocktail napkin showing a map of the waterways around Hilton Head, South Carolina warns its users not to go off sailing with it: “Caution: Not to be used for navigation.” Next year a book with the 101 stupidest, silliest and wackiest warning labels will be published.

Provider wins $11B suit against spammer

Clinton Internet provider wins $11B suit against spammer

Internet service provider CIS Internet Services who successfully sued Internet spammers in the past now has been awarded an $11.2 billion judgment against a Florida man for sending millions of unsolicited e-mails advertising mortgage and debt consolidation services.

Getting to much spam yourself? Try a smam filter like SpamAssasin or a provider like Pair who offers it and report spammers to services like SpamCop.

The World Wide Panorama – Best of 2005

To celebrate the New Year 2006, over 300 VR photographers from around
the world have contributed their “best of 2005″. This is the latest
edition of the World Wide Panorama, an event that is now two years
old, and has had 600 participants. The site features over 1700 VR
panoramas.

Best of 2005 showcases scenes from 52 countries. The panoramas are
listed by photographers’ name, and countries and regions of the
world. There are also world and regional maps with clickable dots,
and references from each panorama to MultiMap and Google Maps.
Information about connecting WWP and Google Earth will be available
soon.
