Don't mess with Jasper

Something about parking again: In our company there are two groups of employees, those with and those without a parking. Only upper management and commercial people have a private parking, the rest has to find one of the rare spots in the area. So as a developer I don’t have a parking and that’s why I am going to work by public transport now. Today a project manager (that’s not upper management) – Ernst – dared to park on the spot of one of the commercial guys – Jasper – and didn’t remove it on request. Well, Jasper doesn’t like to walk and was absolutely not amused. He reacted with a wheel clamp (EUR 65 at Halfords) and if it happens again, he will not remove it again.

No-Parking

Signs of Heerenveen

We visited Heerenveen this weekend and apart from the Oranjewoud area, the most remarkable were 3 street signs:

Never try to catch a falling knife

The Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch has published the winners of the annual Wacky Warning Labels. A heat gun’s warning saying ‘Do not use this tool as a hair dryer‘ has been awarded as the nation’s wackiest warning label. 2nd price goes to the ‘Never try to catch a falling knife‘ label on a kitchen knife. A cocktail napkin showing a map of the waterways around Hilton Head, South Carolina warns its users not to go off sailing with it: “Caution: Not to be used for navigation.” Next year a book with the 101 stupidest, silliest and wackiest warning labels will be published.
